Thanks to dag at maxrates blog for the tip. This is the kind of innovation I am talking about. Besides the looming energy crisis, we also have concerns in the not too distant future for clean water and for responsible garbage disposal. The article I'm linking to here points to an invention by Fairchild International Corporation's subsidiary, SynGas. They have produced a machine which turn biomass (plant material, vegetation or animal waste) into industry grade natural gas... Using trash for energy !!
